Ramesses II Temple Renews with the Old Testament

The ancient temple that belonged to the ancient Testament Pharaoh is restored by archaeologists in Egypt.
In a Facebook post posted on Thursday, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiques posted it Ramesses II The Temple of the Luxor Administration, Ramesseum, will undergo significant restoration works in the new year.

The Ministry of Tourism announced that restoration work is being carried out in cooperation with the National University of Korea Cultural Heritage. According to Egyptian officials, Ramesses II built a temple in honor of Amun-Ra, the Egyptian god of air, sun and creation.

After the earthquake hit Egypt in the 27th year BC, Ramesseum was left in the ruins, but a statement for the public states that the remains of an ancient building “indicate that it is a large temple that reflects the size and stature of Ramesses II among kings.”
“The temple is surrounded by a massive mud wall, and its length reaches 180 meters wide than 66 meters,” said a statement translated from Arabic into English. “It also includes representations of one of the most important battles led by Ramesses II, a battle near Kades.”

The project “It aims to understand the methods used by the ancient Egyptians in the construction of this pylon, analyzing its inscriptions and comparing them to those in other temples.”
“The work of excavation around Pylon will try to discover stone blocks that were part of Pylon, with scientific documentation and recording of these stone blocks, as well as the creation of databases for the project,” the public statement said.

“In addition, the project includes stabilization, renewal and restoring stones to its original positions to renovate Pylon after the completion of the documentation.”

Officials hope that the restoration “will improve tourist experience for visitors, both Egyptian and foreign, especially for those who are interested in cultural tourism”.
Ramesses II made international titles last year after archaeologists discovered ancient sword belonging to his army in September.

The artifact, located in Beheira’s governors, was part of the discovery that included “a series of Mudbrick architectural units, including military barracks for soldiers and warehouses for weapons, food and stocks from the new royal era.”
