People are increasingly watching chatbote as friends – but maybe not their brightest friend, finds new research

A new study from Stanford University shows that Americans are increasingly describing AI Chatbots as a human friend or companion would be. At the same time, a bit paradoxical, their confidence in the competence of these chatbot decreases. The study asks critical questions about how the chatbot interface should be designed to potentially discourage anthropomorphism.
