‘Our plane crashed. It’s upside down ‘
“Our plane crashed. It’s upside down.”
These were the words of John Nelson, a passenger on the flight of Delta Airline, who had just collapsed and switched while following the Toronto Pearson International Airport.
All 80 people on the ship from Minneapolis – 76 passengers and four crews – They survivedsaid the airport executive director.
Eighteen passengers were injured. Local paramedics said that three people – a child, a man in the 60s and a woman in the 40s – seriously injured, but officials said they were not aware of anyone with critical injuries.
“Most people seem to be fine. We all come down,” Mr. Nelson said in a video posted on Facebook shortly after the fall.
Later, he said to CNN that there was no indication of anything unusual before landing.
“We slid to the side and then rolled over on our backs,” he said, adding that “there was a big fire ball on the left side of the plane.”
The passengers left hanging upside down in their seats.
“We were upside down as a bat,” said Peter Koukov, who was also on the plane, for CNN.
Mr. Nelson said he was able to eliminate himself to push to the ground.
“Some somehow hung and they needed help … And others managed to make themselves,” he said.
Video shots divided on social media show people breaking out of the overturned aircraft, and the fire teams spray them with foam.
Passengers were seen as his air staff assisted from the aircraft door, and some were then running away from the entrance to the plane.
Despite the plane that overturned the runway, Diane Perry said she found out about the collision when the family called her while she was in line to check her luggage.
“It was kind of ironic that we were at the airport and we didn’t know that there was a collision outside,” she told the BBC.
The reason for the collision is not yet clear. Two runways will remain closed for a few days to investigate, and it has been told passengers that they expect some delays.
Mr. Nelson is still processing what just happened, saying CNN, in “stressful, nervous, trembling still.”
“It’s amazing that we’re still here.”
