The recordings posted by Peruvian police show a man attacking the famous incident artifact in Cusc, with what they described as a metal object.
According to the City Ministry of Culture, the incident caused “irreversible damage” to a 12 -corner stone, which was once part of the ancient palace.
The suspect was later detained, and the authorities said they believe that the person behind the attack is drunk.
Stone is a popular tourist attraction and a symbol of advanced stone works of the Inca civilization.
