Tennis legend Martin Navratilova expressed disbelief on the recent proposal of representative Earl Carter to rename Greenland to “Red, White and Blueland” after being acquired by President Donald Trump. Navratilova criticized the proposal, repeating broadly skepticism over legislation.

Georgia’s representative Earl L. Carter presented “Red, White and Blueland Laws of 2025.” On Monday, February 10th. The proposal of the law authorizes President Trump to negotiate the purchase of Greenland from Denmark and dictates his renaming.

This proposal is aligned with Trump’s long -standing interest in Greenland, guided by strategic reasons such as national security, access to resources and the creation of heritage. Trump’s overture caused international reactions, with Denmark and Grenland claiming that Grenland was not for sale, increasing the defense in response.

Martina Navratilova replied At the proposal of Donald Trump to rename the Gulf of Mexico in the US Gulf, a water body bordering with the US bay coast and more Mexican countries. Trump presented this idea during a press conference at MAR-a-Laga in Florida on January 8th.

“We will change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the American Bay, which has a beautiful ring that covers a lot of territories. The American Bay. What a beautiful name,” Trump said.

In the reaction, the X user jokingly published:

“You know what would actually break the price of eggs? The US Bay,” probably alluding to Trump’s past comments about resolving the prices of food products during his campaign.

After his inauguration, Trump signed an executive command entitled “Renewal of the name that pay tribute to the American size”, which directed the renaming of the Mexican Bay on the “US Bay”. This move was part of the wider initiative to honor American heritage and included other renaming directives, such as changing Denalia back to Mount McKinley.

Following the Executive Command, several organizations updated their references to alignment with the new mark. Google Maps now shows the “US Bay” for users in the United States, while users in Mexico see “Gulf Mexican”. Both names are presented to international users.

Abroad, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum rejected renaming, stating that the Mexican Gulf of Mexico remains the same for the Mexico and world of the Mexican Bay.
