Kansas Woman convicted of killing a military husband in Fort Riley

The Kansas woman condemned the federal jury for shooting and murder A military soldier husband at their house in Fort Riley in February 2024.
On Friday, the officers of the Kansas Lawyer’s District announced that 31-year-old Margaret E. Shafe had been found guilty of killing her husband, Army SPC. Greg Shafe, who was a soldier assigned to Fort Riley, and Military installation in Kansas.
According to Shafe’s obituary, he succumbed to a Pucchot wound to the head He held on February 19, 2024, while he was based. The next day he was declared dead. Shafe was supposed to be scheduled in Poland with his new squadron when his wife had to be hospitalized for pregnancy complications.

“Greg stayed with Margaret’s side while she was hospitalized at Kansas City until the end of pregnancy and Sydon staying in Nice,” he writes in the obituary. “Greg loved his family very much, and Sydon was Greg’s pride and joy. She was truly a girl’s dad.”
Shafe lived in the base with Margaret, his one -year -old daughter and stepfather, says the obituary.

The Gofundme page was also created by family friend Abby Shelton to help support her Shafe’s daughter.
“This is the worst kind of tragedy. Greg was a lighthouse of light in such a dark world. We are all broken and we pray infinitely for Greg’s family and loved ones,” writes in the Gofundme Post.

According to Shelton, one of the brothers and sisters of Greg Shafe will adopt his younger child, while his 9-year-old pastor will live with her biological father.
Margaret Shafe is faced with a maximum punishment life in prison.

It was not immediately known what led to the shooting or the motive.
Officials added that the Federal Investigation Office, the US Ministry of Military Criminal investigation and the Emergency Directorate of Fort Riley investigated the case.
