German extreme right leader welcomes the ‘historical’ election result

The leader of the extremely right alternative to Germany (AFD) invited the party’s election result on Sunday after exit polls gave a record 19.5 to 20 percent of the vote. “We have achieved a historic result,” said party candidate Alice Weidel, she told fans fans at the AFD election night in Berlin, adding that the anti-immigration party was “firmly anchored” in the political landscape.
