China explodes us as Panama leaves the initiative of the belt and road | Trade war news

In the middle of the US pressure, Panama is the first Latin American country to leave the global infrastructure club in Beijing.

China in Latin America scored Washington’s “Cold War mentality” after Panama stopped Belt and road initiative (Bri).

A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China hit the United States on Friday for the sabotage of the global infrastructure program.

Beijing is “firmly opposed to the United States using pressure and coercion to smear and undermine a belt and road cooperation,” Lin Jian said in a statement. “The attacks of the American side … once again expose their hegemonic nature.”

Referring to a visit to this week by the region of Marc Rubioa, Lin said that the comments of the US Secretary of State “unjustly accused China, deliberately sow a disagreement between China and the relevant latin countries, interfering with Chinese internal affairs and subjugating legitimate Chinese rights and interests of China”

Jian noted that more than 20 Latin American nations were among the more than 150 countries that have participated in the Bri since China introduced it in 2013.

In 2017, Panama became the first in the region to officially join massive infrastructure A plan, which is the central pillar of the efforts of President XI Jinping to expand the global influence of his country.

But on Thursday, Panama President Jose Raul Mulino said his country officially informed that he would leave the project.

The announcement was followed by a visit to State Secretary Marc Rubi, who also visited the Panaman Channel.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly accused Panama of controlling the strategic navigable path to China, despite the rejection of both countries.

Mulino denied that they were now pushing Panama to make a move to leave Bri.

Rubio, who threatened the action against Panama, unless he made immediate changes to reduce the Chinese impact on the channel, welcomed the announcement as a “big step forward” for bilateral relations.

Beijing insisted on Friday to “support the sovereignty of Panama over the channel.”

“We hope that Panama will make the correct decision based on the overall situation of bilateral relations and long -term interests of the two nations and eliminate external interference,” Jian said.
