In the first preliminary fight on David Benavidez’s event card against David Morrell, Mayweather Promotion of the Blue Curmel “Big Deal” Moton was stopped by Frank Zaldivar (5-2, 3 ko) in the third round.
In a match scheduled for eight rounds, 18-year-old Fena Curmel Moton showed a huge amount of talent in a short time. The engine showed aggression, speed, strength, technique, work rate, accuracy and piercing.
After connecting with a few stiff stabs, the Curmel Moton landed a rush of shooting on the head and body of his opponent. The engine controlled most of the first round, but Zaldivar closed the circle by pressing forward and connecting with a few strong left hip.
In the second round, Zaldivar continued to put pressure and grabbed it with a hard desk left hook. The motto crossed his offensive attack from up to down as he repeatedly landed combinations on Zaldivar’s body.
The remaining 45 seconds in the second round, the engine landed with a large left hook that visibly hurt Zaldivar. At the beginning of the 3rd round, the engine touched the Zaldivar several times, then the engine continued to land the combination of David Benavidez into the head and body of his opponent.
At the middle of the third round point, Curmel Moton and Frank Zaldivar stood in their pocket and exchanged shots. The engine landed a sharp combination with three strokes that Zaldivar forced into the ropes. The engine was in the way of attacks while throwing more shots that managed to penetrate the high protection of Zaldivar.
Judge Harvey Dock noted that Zaldivar was sentenced, but did not fire his shootings. Dock was ready to stop the fight, but Zaldivar warned when he said, “You have to show me something honest.”
28-year-old Frank Zaldivar did not respond to the judge’s warning while still hitting solid shots. When the judge noticed that Zaldivar still did not create an insult, he decided to step in and stop the competition.
With the victory, Curmel Moton (7-0, 6 KO) officially began his campaign in 2025. Moton’s expectations are to continue to improve his skills by scoring a total of four to five appearances in the ring this year.
