Banksy “Art of Raw Oil (Vettriano)” Art for Sales Blink-182 Bassist could bring millions


The painting of the Banksy Street artist with an ecological message and an estimate of up to £ 5 million ($ 6.3 million) goes to auction, and some of the revenues help the victims of wild fires in Los Angeles.

“I feel that street art and punk rock have the same core,” Hoppus said. “To the left and neglected by creating your own reality. … Just go into art. It’s the same spirit. I loved art, and especially street art, ever since I understood it.”

“Raw oil (Vettriano)” is part of a 2005 series of works in which Banksy put a satirical spin on famous pictures – annoying the “sunflower” Vincent van Gogh and breaking the run in “Nighthawks” Edward Hopper. The artist said his goal was to show that “the real damage done to our environment does not apply graffiti and drunk teenagers, but a great job.”

The work that passes under the hammer is based on “The Singing Butler”, the picture of Scottish artist Jack Vettriana, which shows the couple in an evening gown that dances on the beach while the servants provide an umbrella shelter. Banksy added a sinking oil line and two figures that pull a toxic waste barrel.

“We loved this picture from the moment we saw it,” said Hoppus, who bought a artwork with his wife Skye in 2011. He said he was a picture – “unmistakably Banksy, but different” – hung in family homes in London and La -in then.

Hoppus said he would use revenue from sales to buy works by upcoming artists. Some will go to the California Foundation for Firefighting, the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital and Cedars Sinai Hematology oncology Research,
