Arteta: ‘A very disappointing weekend’
Liverpool’s draw with Aston Villa has given Arsenal the opportunity a few days earlier to reduce the gap, but instead, they are now holding on to the title race after suffered their first defeat in 15 games by the kind Jarrod Bowen.
Artea said: “It was a very disappointing weekend. The previous 15 games we won 10 and pulled out five – exactly the same as Liverpool with exactly the same goal -development.
“So, we have been extremely consistent in the last three months with respect to everything we have gone through.
“We created that momentum and that was that weekend where we have to go again, but we got a defeat. On top of that they are [Liverpool] win.
“When you try to beat that momentum and we invested so much in it with the circumstances we have, it was really hard to take. The reality is that there is so much game to play and you have to come back to that.”
If the defeat of West Ham was the fiest of him, Arthtea said, “I don’t know, it’s not frustration.
“The feeling that we know how much we invested in it, to be where we are, that when you have the opportunity to take another step, and then on Wednesday they will have to be another one, and then on Sunday another – especially with the Liverpool form.
“It was hard to take, especially at home where we were so consistent.”
