American Star Shiffrin fighting with PTSD after a collision, won’t defend a giant title slalom in Ska Worlds

Mikaela Shiffrin says that after a collision in November, he deals with a post-traumatic stress disorder and will not defend his gold medal in a giant slalom at the Alpine Skiing World Championship.
The American wearer of a record 99 World Cup wins suffered a deep wound from breaking through when it fell on November 30 in a giant slalom race in Killington, Vermont, causing heavy traumas to his sloping muscles.
“I am mentally blocked that I can reach the next level of tempo and speed and putting strength in a rotating turn,” Shiffrin said in an audio message divided by Associate Press on Monday. “And such mental, psychological as PTSD-Esque fights is more than I have predicted.
“I realized when we touched the ground in Europe and got the opportunity to get some repeating days of training, I could improve step by step and somehow passion and longing for races outweighed any fear I had,” she added.
Whatever shiffrin stabs in her fall on Killington, she almost pierced her abdominal wall and colon. Last month, she told the Associated Press that the “millimeter of being quite catastrophic” was injured.

Shiffrin also had a rapid drop last season at Cortini D’A ampezzo in Italy, which held her out of six weeks. She talked about her fears with a psychologist, said Megan Harrod, a spokeswoman for Shifffrina.
On Instagram, Shiffrin wrote: “Honestly, I really didn’t anticipate so much mental/PTSD fighting at GS from my injury.”
Shiffrin won gold in giant slalom on the last worlds in France two years ago
Covering live streaming through the Alpine World Cup will be available on CBCSports.ca and CBC GEM.
The female giant slalom is scheduled for Thursday, and Shiffrin said he was “crushing the soul” that he could not defend his title.
“Two years ago, I was at my highest level I ever skiing at GS. It was the most fun thing I ever skiing GS,” Shiffrin said. “To be here now, and not even be able to start, it’s pretty hearty.”
Shiffrin returned to action last month when she ranked tenth in Courchevel in France at Courchevel in France, and on Saturday she still plans to ran slalom – her best event – at Worlds.
The velocity in the slalom is lower than those in the giant slalom, so the risk level is not so high.
Shiffrin will enter the Team CombinED and pair with the Bridvy Johnson
So far, leaving the giant slalom, Shiffrin on Tuesday has decided to get into a new team combined event at Worlds will be lit with freshly crowned gold medals down the downhill.
The combined event involves one runner who competes in a downhill and the other in the slalom run, with their twice added to determine the final results.
“I’m not in full capacity, not in a giant slalom, nor in the slalom,” Shiffrin said. “But I feel good enough in the slalom.”
Other American teams for the event are a super-g bronze medal Lauren Macuga and Paula Moltzan; Lindsey vonn and aj Hurt; and Jacqueline Wiles and Katie Hensien.
Vonn wanted to pair with Shiffrina in the “Dream Team Ski”
Vonn advocated a race with Shiffrina in the “dream team” involving two of the most successful World Cup skiers of all time. But the US coaching staff chose couples based on the “best results of the season” in both events.
Vonn ‘disappointed’ by acting with selection
“Why didn’t I surprise himself?” Vonn wrote on the platform of social media x with the shoulders of emoji before deleting the announcement.
Then Vonn added a new post to X who said: “I was always a team player and I support my team no matter what. I am not surprised by the decisions made, but at least now it is clear that this is not my decision. I was always supporting and dear That will never change, “Vonn said, concluding Emoji Go -a for the flag.
“I am excited that Breezy and Mikaela have joined together and I believe they are a great couple. However, I am disappointed with the way he acted,” Vonn said later in a statement sent to Associated Press.
Vonn said she reached for Shiffrina and that Shiffrin agreed that it would be great to race together. But then it was said to Vonn that Shiffrin did not enter the combined. Vonn only learned of the final decision of Shiffrinova to racing him through Instagram.
Shiffrin has a special relationship with Johnson
Johnson’s downhill victory marked her first victory anywhere at this level – including the World Cup.
“Breezy and I have been racing together since I was 11. We were together in Whistler Cup and Topolina,” Shiffrin said, calling for two prestigious junior events. “We were roommates, competitors, friends. It will be so cool to bring this full circle.”
Johnson has recently returned from a 14-month ban for three violations “where” in the doping protocol.
“She knows the mental challenges of this sport better than anyone,” Shiffrin said. “She struggled with her teeth and nails to get here, and now she is the world champion. Her path and bite and determination have encouraged me from the hell.”
Shiffrin added that it is combined “like this little light of hope that we can do it and it can be fun. It just may not be so scary.”
Shiffrin hopes that the weekend after the World Cup World Cup in Sistriere, Italy, where two GS races and slalom are scheduled.
Shifffrina needs another win to score a record 100 World Cup wins.
She said that with the departure of her GS for now, it “only buying us a little more time to get things a little sorter.”
