Merseyside police launched an investigation after Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucoure received racist abuse on social media after the Merseyside derby against Liverpool.
Everton and Liverpool have announced a joint statement that condemned the abuse that appeared on Instagram after drawing on Wednesday 2-2 in the last derby of Merseyside at Goodison Park.
Doucoure and Liverpool Curtis Jones were sent to hitting after the Reds midfielder took the exception of the celebration of his opponent in front of the visiting fans after equalizing in the 98th minute of James Tarkowxia.
Racist abuse appeared in the Doucoure start commentary section on the social media platform that celebrated the result.
“Such abuse is humiliating and will not be tolerated and should not be tolerated,” said the statement of Everton and Liverpool.
“Together, two clubs will work with the Merseyside police, who is investigating the aim of identifying responsible individuals.
“We must all, including the companies of social media, take the attitude of zero tolerance. The platforms must take responsibility and action to prohibit such abusers.
“Racism and hatred have no place online, in our stages or in our communities.”
Merseysidea police have complained about all the information they can identify responsible.
“We are investigating this and understanding these hate crime reports extremely serious,” said Claire Doyle’s chief supervisor.
“If you have any information about asking, let us know because it could help our liquid inquiries.
“We have successfully prosecuted so -called racist abuse fans and have been presented with orders to ban football, along with criminal files for their behavior.
“Merseysidea police will not tolerate a hate crime in any form and works to identify and bring in justice, anyone who considered it responsible for that commitment.”
Sky Sports News A target, a company that owns and manages Instagram, addressed the comment.
