Venezuela released six US detainees after talking in Caracas between President Nicolás Madura and a high -ranking official of Trump’s administration.
The publication of men on social networks was announced by Donald Trump and his special envoy Richard Grenell.
Grenell – who posted a photo of the six on his plane on the internet – he said they spoke with President Trump on the phone to thank him.
Previously, the White House invited Venezuela to let go of “American hostages” – as well as agreeing to receive Venezuelan criminals who have now deported – or faced with consequences.
Grenell did not name six men, who were seen dressed in light blue clothing used by the Venecuela prison system.
“We were on the wheels and headed home with these 6 American citizens,” Grenell posted on X. “They just talked to @realdonalddrdrump and couldn’t stop thanking him.”
Trump welcomed the move in a separate post, saying that Grenell had brought “six hostages home from Venezuela.”
State media in Venezuela said the discussions with the envoy of President Trump had been respected.
In January, Caracas announced the capture of the “mercenary” group involved in American nationals.
Maduro swore last month in the third term as a Venecuelan president, six months after the controversial elections for which the opposition and the international community say he lost.
The official election results in July 2024 was widely rejected by the international community, including the US.
Grenell’s visit did not mean the recognition of American Madur as a legitimate leader of Venezuela, said the Karolina Leavitt White House secretary earlier on Friday.
