Vaishnavi Sharma hits stunning hat-trick, registers 4-1-5-5 figures in ICC Women’s World Cup 19 T20 2025
Indian U19 Women’s National Cricket Team player Vaishnavi Sharma made history in the Women’s U19 World Cup match against Malaysia U19 Women’s National Cricket Team. The match between the two teams was played on Tuesday (January 21) at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.
Vaishnavi came up with a magical try with the ball and helped her team rally the opposition for a small total. She was all over the place against the Malaysian batsmen as she wreaked havoc and took a hat trick, becoming the first player from India in the history of the tournament to achieve the feat.
Vaishnavi, who made her debut for the team, made sure to set the stage on fire with the ball in her first appearance. She started her spell with goals from Nur Dania Syuhada and Nuriman Hiyadah and did not look back after that as she removed Nur Ain Binti Roslan, Nur Isma Daniu and Sita Nazwah to complete the hat-trick.

Vaishnavi Sharma continued to pick the fifer and returned with figures of 4-1-5-5 against Malaysia. With her hat-trick, she joined South Africa’s Madison Landsman on the list of hat-trick bowlers in the history of the Women’s U19 World Cup.
South African tennis player Madison Landsman holds the record for the first U19 Women’s T20 World Cup bowler to take a hat-trick. She achieved the feat in a group stage match against Scotland and finished with figures of 4/12 back in 2023.
Along with Vaishnavi Sharma, Aayushi Shukla was also among the wicketkeepers. She picked the figures of 3.3-1-8-3 and based on an incredible effort with the ball, the Indian U19 Women’s National Cricket Team bundled out the opposition for just 31 runs inside 15 overs.
When hunting for a target, all weapons fired. Debutant Gongadi Trisha scored an unbeaten 27 off 12 balls while G Kamalini remained without 4. The win saw the Indian U19 women’s cricket team top the table in Group A with four points and a net run rate of +9.148 .

Talking about her performance, Vaishnavi Sharma said that it was a dream debut for her. She also revealed that Radha Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja are her idols. Speaking after the game, she said:
“It was a dream debut to get a hat-trick and five wickets. My journey has had ups and downs. I look up to Radha Yadav (India’s senior left-arm spinner) and Ravindra Jadeja. I visualized him getting wickets last night.”
