After Carrie Underwood received mixed reactions for agreeing to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday, Lee Greenwood defends the country star.
“Carrie Underwood is a great artist,” the “God Bless the USA” singer told Fox News Digital on Friday. “Great singer. I’ve sung with her before. She’ll do a great job singing ‘America the Beautiful’ at the Capitol.”
“I will sing before the president is sworn in,” he added. “She’s going to sing afterwards. And it’s just going to be a magical moment. For those people who have something negative to say, I say keep it to yourself. Don’t attack my friend who’s here for the same reason I’m here to inaugurate the 47th President of the United States. “

“I love our country and I’m honored to be asked to sing at the inauguration and be a small part of this historic event,” said Underwood, who will be joined by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club. in the statement. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we all need to come together in a spirit of unity and look to the future.”
