The Lilywhites have lost four of their last five Premier League games, tasting defeat on 11 different occasions in the top flight alone this season, and the pressure is seriously mounting on Postecoglou as the fans grow disaffected.
This January window could be pivotal in turning the club’s fortunes around, with injuries ravaging Postecoglou’s squad throughout 2024/25. Kolo Muani signing for Juventus instead of Spurs is a blow for the president Daniel Levy and technical director Johan Langewho missed out on one of the “best all-round strikers available” (David Ornstein).

On Monday, Tottenham argued with Juve over Kolo Muani (Fabrizio Romano), but after the Frenchman made his decision, there are reports that the north Londoners have taken a look at ambitious alternatives.
According to Football Transfers, Spurs made a “concrete” approach for Alejandro Garnachand Man United could be tempted with an offer of £60 million. Postecoglou also follows Bryan Mbeumand his Brentford expires in 2026.
Both of the above options will cost north of £50m if their respective clubs sell this month.A more astute option that is more readily available, given Lyon’s financial crisis and temporary relegation to Ligue 2, is highly-rated winger Rayan Cherki.
Tottenham have made an offer for Lyon winger Ryan Cherki through agents
According to GiveMeSport, Agents offered Tottenham the opportunity to sign Cherkiwho are actively searching the market to find a new home for the Frenchman.
The 21-year-old is capable of playing anywhere across the front three, similar to Kolo Muani, and even further forward when needed. He is also arguably Lyon’s star player, averaging more key passes and successful tackles per 90 than anyone in their squad (WhoScored).
Furthermore, reports state that Cherki could be available for as little as £25mwhich makes it a very attractive option for Levy and co. When you take all this into account, you can seriously argue that Cherki is perfect for Tottenham and has great resale value as a young player.
Journalists love it Dean Jones they even called his price “too good to be true” in serious praise of the player.
“You see the numbers around Cherki and there’s talk of £25m, which just seems too good to be true. He’s just different, this player.” Jones said.
“If you haven’t seen Cherki play then just either stop the floor and go and watch him on YouTube for 10 minutes and then come back or just go watch him as we speak. Because his skill level is unheard of. He feels like he could become one of the best players in the world.”
