These FDA-Approved Drugs and Vaccines Were “Most Influential” in 2024: GoodRx

2024 brought significant things advances in medicine.

These include the approval of “innovative” drugs such as Tryvio for high blood pressure, Neffy for severe allergic reactions and Dupixent for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), all of which received FDA approval this year.

These drugs “are predicted to have major clinical impact for those who need them,” according to GoodRx, a California-based digital healthcare platform.

Earlier this month, GoodRx released a list of the 19 most influential drugs and approval of vaccines of 2024, some newly developed treatments for certain conditions and other existing drugs that are approved for additional use.

Here is a list by FDA approval date.

1. Dupixent – Additional use: Eosinophilic esophagitis (an allergic disease that causes inflammation of the esophagus)

2. Amtagvi – New medicine: Advanced melanoma

3. Xolair – Additional use: Food allergies

4. Wegovy – Additional use: Reduction of cardiovascular risk

In a disclaimer, GoodRx said the list was created by prioritizing “the first drugs and vaccines expected to have a significant impact on human health.”

“This is defined as either the number of lives affected or the expected degree of impact for future recipients of the drugs,” the company wrote.

“We also prioritized drugs with efficacy or safety data that represented a significant advantage over other drugs recommended by clinical treatment guidelines or major medical organizations.”
