The US will ease restrictions on aid to Syria in a limited show of support for the new government, WSJ Reuters reports
(Reuters) – The Biden administration plans to announce on Monday that it will ease restrictions on humanitarian aid to Syria, speeding up the delivery of essential supplies without lifting sanctions that limit other aid to the new government in Damascus, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.
The move, approved by the administration over the weekend, authorizes the Treasury Department to issue waivers to aid groups and companies that provide basic necessities such as water, electricity and other relief supplies, the WSJ reported, citing officials.
