Marcus Rashford could be offered a surprise exit from Manchester United, while transfer ambitious Serie A side Como open the window this month.
Rashford has not played for United for nearly a month, having been left out of four consecutive matchday squads in December, during which time he has gone public with his willingness to consider a “new challenge” away from his club of 20 years.
AC Milan already has a loan offerwith additional reported interest in the 27-year-old forward from Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and even Tottenham Hotspur.
Como would be a left-field option as they struggle towards the bottom of Serie A after last season’s promotion. But the fashionable club based near the shores of the famous lake that shares the same name is backed by the richest ownership group in Italian football.
Indonesian conglomerate Djarum has a net worth of close to 50 billion euros. Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has also lent his support to the club as a minority shareholder, as has former Gunners teammate Cesc Fabregas, who is now head coach following the Como player’s retirement in 2023.
Thanks to the wealth behind the club, Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Como would have “no problem” regarding the financial aspect of a potential Rashford approach. Fabregas gives the project gravitas, as does former Manchester United defender Raphael Varane, who ended his playing career through injury shortly after joining Como last summer but it stayed on.
Dele Alli, Rashford’s former England team-mate, is also currently training with the club.
Rashford, whose agent and brother were reportedly in northern Italy on Wednesday to assess the level of interest from various clubs in the region, is said to favor the idea of joining Milan.
