The Democratic mayor of Philadelphia responded to ridicule for misspelling the word Eagles during a speech


Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker responded to the widespread mockery directed at her when she wrote it wrong the Eagles’ hometown name during a speech Sunday.

During the celebration singing team playoffthe Democratic mayor attempted to perform the fanbase’s signature chant by spelling out the team’s name. However, she wrote “ELGSES.”

Parker addressed the mistake during a press conference on Tuesday.

“We don’t promise perfection, I’m so happy I never have,” Parker told reporters. “Especially after I couldn’t spell Eagles very well.”

The journalists present laughed in response.

The Democrat’s misspelling has already been turned into a T-shirt by the independent Philadelphia sportswear company Philly Goat.

Parker is in her first term as mayor after winning the 2023 mayoral election, becoming the first female mayor in the city’s history when she won Republican Joe Rockey.

Parker served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2005 to 2015 and then on the Philadelphia City Council from 2015 to 2022.

The Eagles will face the rival Washington Commanders in Philadelphia on Sunday in the NFC Championship game for the right to advance to the Super Bowl.
