‘The Champions League would be incredible’

Nottingham Forest qualifying for the Champions League would be “absolutely unbelievable”, captain Morgan Gibbs-White said after they drew level with Arsenal in the Premier League.

Gibbs-White scored against his former club Wolves as Forest won 3-0 to reach 40 points by winning their sixth game in a row.

They sit six points adrift of leaders Liverpool – who they host next week – and look well placed to mount a serious challenge for a top-four finish.

The win at Molineux marked the 50th anniversary of the appointment of Brian Clough, who won the European Cup twice with Forest in 1979 and 1980.

Forest have played in the UEFA Cup three times since winning the trophy, but have never played in the Champions League.

“It would be absolutely amazing,” Gibbs-White said. “There will be a few fans who might experience it twice.

“To be able to give them that chance again is what we really want to do as a club.

“The owner believes in it, we believe in it. We just have to take it one game at a time and not get ahead of ourselves. keep calm and stay humble.”

‘The city will be happy’

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo smiled after the win over his former side – but said they had not achieved anything yet.

He said: “We haven’t achieved anything yet, we have to work until the end and that can lead us to good times

“My ambitions are always the same. As a coaching staff we have a natural ambition to improve players, that’s what we’re obsessed with.

“If we improve the players, the team will improve, and if the team improves, the club will improve and the city will be happy.”
