Tommy Tonks and his long throws are Tamworth’s not-so-secret weapon and the experienced 33-year-old will line up in midfield for the hosts on Sunday.
Tamworth are without striker Ben Acquaye with a torn ACL, while Callum Cockerill-Mollett is a new addition on the treatment table.
Centre-back Jordan Cullinane-Liburd has played an important role in Tamworth’s run to the FA Cup so far and is eligible to return to the squad on Sunday after serving a three-match suspension last week.
Predicted line-up for Tamworth vs Tottenham (4-4-1-1): Singh; Crompton, Libard, Hollis, Fairlamb; McGlinchey, Milnes, Tonks, Williams; Morrison; Creaney.
Postecoglou will be wary of playing his big players on artificial turf given Spurs’ current injury list, but the Australian’s hand will be somewhat forced in terms of squad selection.
Eight first-team players are currently sidelined with injuries, while Fraser Forster is battling illness. It could be another start for new goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky after his impressive debut in midweek, while Pape Sarr and James Maddison return to action after serving suspensions against Liverpool.
Rodrigo Bentancur is Tottenham’s latest casualty – he will be out for several weeks under concussion protocols.
Mikey Moore and South Korean Yang Min-hyeok could occupy the flanks for the visitors with Will Lankshear at the helm. Sergio Reguilon should also be considered at left back.
Predicted line-up of Tottenham against Tamworth (4-3-3): Kinsky; Spence, Dragusin, Dorrington, Reguilon; Bissouma, Maddison, Sarr; Yang, Lankshear, Moore.
The naturally pessimistic fanbase no doubt has a few nerves going into this game given the sloping artificial pitch and Tonks’ long throws.
Although this was set up for ‘Spursy’ on an afternoon just days after they toppled the best team in the country, Postecoglou’s men will surely not be letting up here.
Overcoming EFL opposition is one thing, but even an inexperienced Tottenham side is a different fish for Tamworth. It will be a great opportunity for the hosts, but Spurs should win at a gallop.
