South Korean authorities at President Yoon’s residence to execute an arrest warrant Reuters

SEOUL (Reuters) – South Korean authorities investigating impeached President Yoon Seok Yeol were at his official residence on Wednesday to execute an arrest warrant on sedition charges linked to his Dec. 3 declaration of martial law.

The video shows investigative vehicles in front of Yoon’s hilltop mansion in Seoul, where he has been imprisoned for weeks.

On January 3, investigators were prevented from serving the first arrest warrant issued against the South Korean president after clashes with hundreds of presidential security agents and military guards.

About 6,500 supporters of Yoon gathered at the residence on Wednesday, and some ruling party lawmakers formed a human chain to prevent the execution of the arrest warrant, Yonhap news agency reported.

The team that executed the arrest warrant, made up of the Corruption Investigation Office for Senior Officials (CIO) and the police, secured the re-issuance of the warrant on January 7 and held multiple meetings in an attempt to ensure successful execution.
