Shreyas Iyer opens his batting position for Champions Trophy 2025

“KL (Rahul) and I, played that important role in the middle during the World Cup. We had a great season together. It was just the last part (the final against Australia) that we couldn’t do as we wanted. It will be a proud moment for me if I am selected for the Champions Trophy (teams) to represent the country,” Iyer added.

Impressive figures in ODIs

Iyer, with an impressive average of 47.5, amassed 2421 runs from 62 ODIs. This tally includes five centuries and 18 fifties, showing his consistency at international level. During Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023Iyer was in superb form, scoring back-to-back centuries, including a crucial knock in the semi-final, helping India reach the final unbeaten.

His World Cup performance finished behind only Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the run total for India. Iyer last featured for India in August during the three-ODI series against Sri Lanka. As the Champions Trophy approaches, his form and versatility will be crucial to India’s success in the tournament.
