Player ratings as a big win sends the champions to the top of La Liga

Real Madrid came back from conceding a goal in the first minute to convincingly beat Las Palmas 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Fabio Silva’s goal after 26 seconds was the last thing Carlo Ancelotti needed after a week in which Spanish media suggest he is under pressurebut his side quickly bounced back to confirm in a must-win game to capitalize on misses by Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

Kylian Mbappe drew Madrid equalized from the penalty spot after Rodrygo was brought down and the Frenchman played a key role in helping the 15- Champions League the winners take the game away from Las Palmas.

The Frenchman raced forward towards the penalty area after Juanma Herzog’s ill-advised lunge, where Mbappe came out with the ball and his attack was well saved by Jasper Cillessen. But the rebound fell well to Lucas Vazquez and he deflected the ball into the box for Brahim Diaz to tap into an empty net.

Mbappe made it 3-1 three minutes later, expertly heading Rodrygo’s ball into the top corner with laser-like precision, and the goal prompted an impassioned reaction from Ancelotti on the touchline – the Italian looked up to the referee’s box to pump his fists vigorously in celebration.

Rodrygo put the icing on Real Madrid’s cake, turning Fran Garcia’s cross with a controlled first-time strike into Cillessen’s bottom corner, before Las Palmas were reduced to ten men as Benito was shown a straight red card for catching Vazquez high on the body from his peg.

David Alaba was a second-half substitute for Madrid, continuing his return to action after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a torn ACL.
