Ipswich has already hit on a star worth more than Philogene

We are only halfway through the season and it would be fair to say that things are not looking bad for Ipswich Town.

Now, that’s true Kieran McKenna the clock is foreign in the relegation zonebut the results have improved in recent weeks and are still safe.

Moreover, as the transfer window is in full swing, the club has the opportunity to further strengthen the team and increase the chances of survival.

Still, while the signings will undoubtedly help, we can’t imagine them bringing in anyone more valuable than one of their current stars, including Jadan Philogene.

Ipswich Jobs in January

So with so much on the line, it was expected that Ipswich would be at least somewhat active in the transfer market this month, and so far, anyway, they have been.

For example, just five days after the window, Atalanta defender Ben Godfrey joined club on loan until the end of the season, and while struggling to make an impact in Serie A, this could prove to be a brilliant piece of business.

The former Everton ace has 112 Premier League appearances to his nametwo games for England and I can play across the back line and even inside defensive midfielder if needed.

That said, while the York-born defender will undoubtedly add some more toughness to the Tractor Boys, he won’t add much excitement, at least not as much as the club’s other signing, Jaden Philogene.

Now, young man, set at £20mhe has not yet officially joined the club, but according to insiders, such as Fabrizio Romanoindicate that it is only a matter of time.

That’s certainly a lot of money to spend on a player only 334 minutes of top flight football to his name, but given that he collected a brilliant catch 12 goals and six assists in just 32 Championship appearances for Hull City last season, it could prove to be a wise investment.

However, there is a current Ipswich star who spent time with the Tigers last season, someone who is worth well over £20m.

The Ipswich star is worth millions more than Philogene

So, getting straight to the point, it will come as no surprise that the player we are talking about is, of course, Liam Delap.

The former Manchester City prospect, who also cost £20m in the summernow valid until 41.3 million euros according to Football Transferswhich translates to around £34.77m, or £14.77m more than Philogene should cost.

Now, while that is undoubtedly a lot of money, it could be argued that the Englishman should be worth even more, having been utterly spectacular so far this season.

For example, despite playing for a relegation-threatened side and having previously had limited Premier League experience, the unlikely “one-man battering ram”, as Opta Analyst called ithe scored a goal eight goals and two assists in only 20 performances, a total of 1469 minutes.

That means the 21-year-old phenom is currently averaging a goal every other game, or every 146.9 minutes, which, again, for a team struggling in the relegation zone is simply sublime.

Ultimately, there can be no debating who is Ipswich’s best player this season, and if they can keep up, the sky is the limit for Delap’s future valuation.
