Nikhil Chaudhary’s brutal shot sends umpire Sharad Patel in the face in a hilarious BBL moment
Hobart Hurricanes all-rounder Nikhil Chaudhary had a decent outing with bat and ball in the 2024-25 Big Bash League (BBL) match against Adelaide Strikers. The match between the two teams was played on Sunday (January 5) at Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
Nikhil Chaudhary played two overs with the ball and also played well with the bat. The Hobart Hurricanes all-rounder kept his team in the hunt chasing 187 as he held one end as the wickets fell at the other end.

Chasing the target, the Hobart Hurricanes were reeling at 101/4 and under a lot of pressure. Then Nikhil Chaudhary, along with Tim David, joined hands and pulled the team out of trouble, bringing them close to the finish line.
While Chaudhary played the role of host, David was at his brutal best. Their partnership frustrated the Adelaide Strikers batsmen as they added 75 runs which almost sealed the game for the Hobart Hurricanes and put the Adelaide Strikers bowlers under a lot of pressure.
During his innings, Chaudhary’s shot almost brought down umpire Sharad Patel’s leg. On the 5th ball of the 12th over, D Arcy Short hit a googly on the leg stump, to which the batsman jumped to deep backward field. The referee, who was stationed there, tried to get out of the way, but fell badly to the ground.

Nikhil Chaudhary and Tim David guided Hobart Hurricanes to a 5-wicket win as they chased down the target with 8 balls to spare
Nikhil Chaudhary finished with an innings of 22 runs off 22 balls with two boundaries. But once he came out, it was Tim David who took charge and made sure he led his team to victory against the Adelaide Strikers to claim two important points.
Tim David played an unbeaten innings of 62 runs off 28 balls. The all-rounder batted at a strike rate of over 222 and also hit 3 fours and 6 sixes in his innings. His knock led the Hobart Hurricanes to a 5-wicket win as they chased down the target with 8 balls to spare.
Earlier in the match, Chris Lynn played a crucial innings for the Adelaide Strikers. He scored 49 runs off 27 balls. He hit 5 fours and 3 sixes in his innings, batting at a strike rate of around 182, and took his team to a great start with the bat. He was well supported by Ollie Pope and Alex Ross.
While Pope played a decent hand of 33 and Alex Ross, who scored 47 runs, the team to a big total on the board. Based on a combined effort with the bat, Adelaide Strikers posted a total of 186 runs on the board.
