Newcastle are trying to get Howe’s best signing from Isak

But his prowess comes from his ability to mix things up, to make a positive impression in his many duties. Isak actually has created eight great chances this season, more than any other centre-forward in the Premier League.

Mbeumo would only further improve this successful system. With the exception of Mohamed Salah and Bukay Saka, there is arguably no better right-winger currently competing in the Premier League, and their signing will surely keep Newcastle level and perhaps bring the Toon closer to silverware – if they fail to win the big honor this season, that is.

So Brentford appear reluctant to negotiate a deal for Mbeuma this winter, but Newcastle’s decision to let Almiron leave for pastures new suggests Howe and sporting director Paul Mitchell are preparing to make their move before the current window closes.

This is the moment for United to show their ambition, to impress English football with their intention to throw the so-called ‘big six’ off balance and usher in a new era.

It hasn’t been easy over the past few years, it never will be, but United are undoubtedly one of the best teams in the country right now and could convince their rivals of that fact, once and for all, with Mbeumo adding to the mix, the best signing since Isak.
