Mohamed Salah posts cryptic tweet as contract standoff continues

Mohamed Salah kept the pressure on Liverpool this afternoon by tweeting three big names who are out of contract at the end of the season.

Salah’s tweet contained no words, just a picture of himself, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, all three of whom are free to leave Anfield in June.

Salah’s choice of image is unlikely to be a coincidence and he continues his public search for a new deal to stay on Merseyside.

No progress, Salah said

The normally media-shy Egyptian has repeatedly spoken about the fact that a deal has yet to be agreed and, again last week, said he now expects to leave in five months.

“There is no progress there,” he told Sky Sports the possibility of extending the contract. “We are far from any progress. We just have to wait and see.

“The thing in my mind is if this is the last six months, what do you want to see in the future? Do you want to look back and say ‘I was worried or stressed about the contract’?

“Or do you just want to say ‘I had an amazing season’? That’s in my head. If I ever feel distracted, I just remind myself that I want to look back and say I had an amazing season.”

Another trophy

Salah said he hopes to win another trophy during his time with Liverpool, who drew 2-2 with Manchester United yesterday, with the 32-year-old scoring one of the goals from the penalty spot.

“My motivation this year was to win a trophy and be a big part of winning that trophy – especially the Premier League,” Salah added, referring to the squad assembled by Arne Slott’s predecessor, Jurgen Klopp, whose trophies include the 2018/19 Champions League. and Premier League 2019/20.

“There is still half [that] the team remained as me, Trent, Virgil, Alisson, Robbo [Andy Robertson]. It is imperative that we win one more trophy before we all leave.”
