Manchester City have signed Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £29.6m
Manchester City have strengthened their defensive ranks with the arrival of 19-year-old Brazilian defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras.
The club have completed a £29.6m deal for the promising young talent, who has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal.
Reis, a right-footed centre-back, made 22 appearances for Palmeiras and represented Brazil at under-17 level.
“This is a dream come true, I’ve always dreamed of an opportunity like this and playing for such a big club like City since I was little,” said Reis.
“The size of Manchester City, its history and structure. When the door knocked and it was Manchester City, I knew I had nowhere to go.”

“I am a very eager athlete, with a great will to win.
So you can all be sure that I will go and do my best on the field.
“I have great desire and determination and I am a player who likes challenges, good headers and passes.
“City like to play with a lot of possession, I like to play that way too.
“City showed me that trust when they decided to sign me and that gives me a lot of confidence.”
City’s Premier League title defense has been derailed by injury problems this season, particularly in defence.
The club have already signed Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov in this window and are reportedly seeking a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush before the transfer window closes.
