Man Utd predicted line-up against Liverpool

Manchester United are looking for a surprise result against league leaders and bitter rivals Liverpool in the Premier League this Sunday.

The Red Devils are under huge pressure heading to Anfield after four successive defeats, with Ruben Amorim failing to make a positive difference during his the first six weeks on the sideline. A visit to the red half of Merseyside is the last thing the Portuguese manager needs as he looks to change Man Utd’s fortunes.

Injuries can no longer be blamed for the Red Devils’ dismal form and performances, with Amorim still unsure of his best starting line-up. The former Sporting CP manager may be reluctant to experiment with his Anfield XI, fearing a potential defeat.

Here’s how Man Utd they might show up this weekend.

GK: Andre Onana – Invigorated at the start of the campaign, Onana, much like most of his teammates, has reverted to an unconvincing and uncertain wreck in recent weeks. He’s guaranteed to be busy on the weekend against the division’s most dangerous offensive line.

CB: Matthijs de Ligt – De Ligt made his first start for Man Utd in the reverse fixture and put in a mostly poor performance in the Home defeat 3-0. Things have not improved for the Dutchman, who could hardly be more contrasting than compatriot Virgil van Dijk.

CB: Harry Maguire – Man Utd have initiated Maguire’s contract extension as they look for leadership and the hulking defender will offer some authority in defense on Sunday. He will be kept on his toes by the relentless Luis Diaz, whose pace and quick feet can cause serious problems.

CB: Lisandro Martinez – Martinez’s diminutive stature has proved a problem in recent weeks, as Joelinton bullied the Argentine as Newcastle United doubled their advantage at Old Trafford last Monday.

RM: Noussair Mazraoui – Anthony Gordon didn’t offer the Moroccan a break last time out and Cody Gakpo will prove a similar challenge for the summer recruit. It could be a long afternoon at Anfield.

CM: Kobbie Mainoo – Mainoo was the man to replace Joshua Zirkzee after just 33 minutes against Newcastle, and the midfielder at least provided a bit more protection from his teammates.

CM: Manuel Ugarte – Uruguay’s tenacity and determination will be key against Liverpooland Man Utd are likely to find themselves under constant pressure. He returns after a one game suspension that he missed defeat of Newcastle.

LM: Diogo Dalot – One of the few decent players against Newcastle as he came on from the lesser known left side. However, going up against the league’s most in-form player, Mohamed Salah, will be a completely different proposition.

RF: Amad Diallo – The blond has been one of the few bright sparks in a dark season for the Red Devils and produced the winning moment in the FA Cup clash between the two sides last season.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund – After signs of life at the start of Amorim’s reign, Hojlund is now five games without a goal. The powerful Danish international must offer more to Man Utd’s front line which has been failing.

LF: Bruno Fernandes – Fernandes was not immune to criticism this season third red card in the campaign didn’t help his side against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The skipper missed the heavy defeat against Newcastle last time out due to suspension.
