Man Utd have slashed the wages of several of the club’s legendary ambassadors as brutal cost-cutting continues


Manchester United are set to cut the payouts of yet another set of club legends as part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS’ ongoing cost-cutting efforts, reports reveal.

Ratcliffe has drawn considerable criticism for overseeing a series of controversial spending cuts. Sir Alex Ferguson saw his the ambassador’s salary was reduced last yearfor which the head of INEOS was recently accused secretly cutting off payments to charity established to support former players.

Meanwhile, a significant number of staff at the club were made redundant last year and ticket prices were increased, and it now appears that INEOS’s quest for savings has seen them cut more ambassadorial jobs.

talkSPORT were the first to discover it United they informed club legends such as Bryan Robson, Denis Irwin and Andy Cole that their ambassadorial salaries would be reduced.

Further to that, Daily Mail state that the wage-cutting process may not yet be complete, and United officials may be looking to sign contracts with a number of ex-players who work as “matchday legends”.

United are believed to be concerned about meeting profit and sustainability rules and want to save money wherever possible, insisting these cuts are a necessary part of running an efficient business.

On the pitch, those cost-cutting measures have also seen Ratcliffe and INEOS admit that no player can be considered untouchable, sparking transfer interest midfielder Kobbie Mainoo and winger Alejandro Garnacho.
