Liverpool and Chelsea are considering a rivalry with Man Utd in their pursuit of Khvich Kvaratskhelia
Liverpool and Chelsea have been named as potential suitors for Napoli winger Khvich Kvaratskhelia.
Napoli are believed to be open to parting ways with Kvaratskhelia this month as talks over a new contract stall, with Paris Saint-Germain examining a deal believed to be worth close to €80m (£67.1m).
Meanwhile, Manchester United it was recently claimed that they are negotiating with Napoli around a swap deal that would send Marcus Rashford to Italy in exchange.
The news of the availability of Kvaratskhelia this month came as a surprise and The Athletic note that it piqued the interest of both Liverpool and Chelsea.
The two giants of the Premier League are following the developments around Kvaratskhelia. While neither Liverpool nor Chelsea are thought to be actively looking for the winger, there is an acceptance that the opportunity to land him is long-term transfer the target has emerged and club officials are now considering whether to act.
Central to the interest in Kvaratskhelia is Napoli’s reasonable asking price. While €80m is obviously a significant amount, it represents great value for the 23-year-old who was named Serie A Player of the Season as Napoli won the 2022/23 title.
Interestingly, Napoli are believed to be interested in Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa as a potential replacement for Kvaratskhelia, while Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei is also a target for Antonio Conte’s side.
