Lemon Ace is the signature cocktail of the Australian Open: Make it at home


The tennis drink it was a game, a set and a match at last year’s US Open now has a counterpart from down under.

Gray Goose, which served as the official beverage sponsor of the US Open, recently signed on with the Australian Open and created cocktail which organizers hope will rival the Honey Deuce.

The Honey Deuce was, of course, a sensation during last year’s US Open, becoming one of the most searched drinks of 2024, according to Google.

Aleco Azqueta, Gray Goose’s global vice president of marketing, told Fox News Digital that the new Australian Open signature cocktail, known as the Lemon Ace, is “made with locally inspired, seasonal ingredients, including fresh citrus, passion fruit and mint.”

Azqueta said he hopes Lemon Ace “will become for the Australian Open what Honey Deuce was for the US Open: an icon of the tournament and an integral part of the fan experience.”

But you don’t have to travel to Melbourne, Australia to experience it for yourself.

Ingredients

1 ⅓ ounce Gray Goose Vodka

5 ounces of sparkling lemonade

½ ounce passion fruit syrup

Lemon zest

Fresh mint

Instructions

1. Fill a chilled highball glass with ice cubes and add Gray Goose vodka.

2. Top with fresh sparkling lemonade and passion fruit syrup.

3. Garnish with fresh mint and lemon zest.

For the perfect garnish, Gray Goose recommends using only the bright yellow rind of the lemon, avoiding the white pith underneath, which can be bitter.

To make the “spinning tennis ball” garnish, use a quick peeler to peel off a wide section of lemon zest. Use the bottle cap to press the cover to cut out the circle, then carefully remove the decoration with a toothpick.
