Leeds open talks to sign “incredible” £10m player ahead of Sheff Utd
Leeds United are now moving ahead with the signing of an “incredible” £10m player ahead of rivals Sheffield United, according to a recent report.
Leeds United transfer news
The Whites’ hopes of automatic promotion suffered a serious blow on Saturday as they held Hull City back to 3-3 after looking on course to seal all three points when they took a 3-1 lead with 10 minutes remaining. The Yorkshire side remain on top Priority table, and although they are in a good position, they are expected to look to strengthen their squad this month in order to secure promotion.

However, Daniel Farke revealed after the Hull draw that he is not “expecting much” in terms of players coming in this month. The German said he is “not a big fan” of the January transfer window, and is confident his squad has the quality needed to retain their position.
Farke said: “I don’t like it when the group is too big. Once everyone is ready and you have four players for one position, it could also be negative for spirit and togetherness.
“If you’re forced to do something because of injuries or something is really missing in the group, then you have to react, but when you’re sitting at the top of the table – it can’t be too wrong.”
Leeds are opening talks to sign an “incredible” £10million player
But while Farke says he doesn’t expect much activity in terms of arrivals, The Sun reported that he does Leeds and the 49ers have begun negotiations to sign Andrew Omobamidele this month.
This 22-year-old is currently playing for the first division club Nottingham Forest since September 2023, when he joined from Norwich City. Omobamidele, which is labeled as “incredibly” of international team-mate Gavin Bazunu, who played 11 times in the Premier League last season but has yet to play this term.
With him not appearing in Nun Espirito Santo’s plans, a move could be on the cards this month. The Sun reports that the Whites have now opened negotiations to sign the centre-back. Nottingham Forest are willing to let Omobamidele leave the City Ground, with a loan deal and buyout a real possibility.
The Reds hope to go through 10 million pounds for the defender, who Leeds see as a long-term investment and a player who would represent serious competition. However, they are not alone in their pursuit, as rivals Sheffield United are also keen to sign Omobamidele, but would prefer a loan move. So Leeds will be hoping they have the upper hand when it comes to completing the transfer, as they could look to sign the player on a permanent basis, and there’s also the fact that it was Farke who gave Omobamidele a chance at Norwich City.
