On January 22, 2025, after the close of trading, the company announced in a press release that initial guidance for fiscal year 2025 expected mid-single-digit growth in live services net bookings[.] However, the company now projects a mid-single-digit decline, with global soccer accounting for most of the change. EA also revealed that another game, Dragon Age, only engaged about 1.5 million players during the quarter, a nearly 50% drop from the company’s expectations.
Following this news, EA’s stock price declined $23.77 per share, nearly 17%, to close at $118.58 per share on January 23, 2025. This represents the biggest one-day drop since 2008.
