John Ramsey reveals why JonBenet’s murder may be linked to the 1997 attack on a fellow dance classmate.
FIRST ON FOX: JonBenet Ramsey’s father, John Ramsey, believes the unsolved case of his daughter’s murder from 1996 may have possible connections to a separate, unsolved assault case from 1997 involving a victim who attended the same dance studio as JonBenet.
Twenty-eight years have passed since then 6-year-old JonBenet she was found strangled and beaten to death in the basement of the family home in Boulder, Colorado, the day after Christmas 1996, and authorities have yet to identify her killer.
Since the release of a new Netflix documentary about her murder, “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey,” another assault case involving a girl who attended JonBenét’s dance studio has received renewed attention.
“Well, I think there’s a very strong indication that there might be a connection,” John Ramsey told Fox News Digital. “The police shot it in the beginning and as far as I know, they never saw it as an option. The police chief at the time said, ‘Well, it’s not the same because that girl from the other incident wasn’t killed.’ ‘ It’s absurd to say something like that.”

Ramsey added that he believed “there’s a possibility that it’s the same person.”
On September 14, 1997, an unknown suspect broke into the girl’s home — just three miles from the Ramseys’ home — that evening and attacked her in her bedroom, but the victim’s mother heard whispers and confronted the assailant, who escaped through her daughter’s window. as He published 48 hours in 2004.

“My feeling is that he went into the house while they were out and hid in the house, so he would have been there for maybe four to six hours, hiding,” the victim’s father told 48 Hours at the time.
The victim’s father himself noticed similarities with the Ramsey case.
“The first thing that came to our mind is that it is a parallel with the Ramsey case, because it was exactly the same situation,” the girl’s father told “48 Hours”. “I think someone drew it somewhere. Apparently we were being monitored without our being aware of it.”
John Ramsey said he thinks “this person’s method of operation was the same” in both incidents.
“I believe he was at our house when we got home from going out with friends to dinner with the kids,” Ramsey said of his daughter’s killer. “We went to bed and he waited for us to fall asleep and attacked JonBenet. In another case, the parents went out. They came home and set off the burglar alarm. The mother eventually heard the noise and went into the child’s bedroom, and the person was standing above her bed, so that person was in the house because they set the burglar alarm. He couldn’t have gotten in otherwise.”
While some have pointed to similarities between the two cases, Boulder police have previously said there is no connection between the two incidents.
