Jayde Riviere signs new long-term contract with Man Utd
Manchester United defender Jayde Riviere has penned a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028, with an option for another year.
The Canadian international joined the Red Devils in January 2023 when she signed the first professional contract of her career. So far, she has made 32 appearances in all competitions and has amassed 47 appearances for her national team at the age of 23.
The right-back has been a regular in Marc Skinner’s side this season, making ten appearances so far. United currently fourth in WSL standings after ten games and seven points from their opponents Chelsea in the first place.
Riviere said club media: “I feel honored to be a Manchester United player every time I step on the pitch, so I’m delighted that this journey will continue.
“Winning the FA Cup last season gave us all a taste of success and I will continue to do my best to achieve more such moments for our fans.”
Matt Johnson, interim head of women’s football, added: “Jayde is a talented young player who is ambitious and determined with the potential to become world class. She has already achieved a lot at a relatively young age but we know there is more to come and we are delighted she will continue her development at Manchester United.”
United returned to action after the winter break at the weekend with a comfortable 7-0 triumph over West Brom in the fourth round FA Cup. This week the focus returns to the league as they prepare for a local derby away to Manchester City.
