Adoption of artificial intelligence is driving interest in DataOps, Investing.com’s ISG study finds
New research from ISG predicts that more than half of enterprises will adopt DataOps by 2026
STAMFORD, Conn.–( BUSINESS WIRE )–The growing use of artificial intelligence is fueling enterprise interest in data operations (DataOps) to orchestrate data integration and processing and improve data quality and validity, a new research report from the world’s leading technology research and advisory firm Information services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: NASDAQ: ) says.
DataOps is the use of agile development, DevOps, and lean manufacturing techniques by data engineering professionals to support data production. ISG Buyer’s Guides for DataOps, produced by ISG Software (ETR:) Research predicts that more than half of enterprises will adopt agile and collaborative DataOps practices by the end of 2026 to improve responsiveness, avoid repetitive tasks and deliver measurable improvements in data reliability.
As the use of artificial intelligence in enterprises moves from initial pilots and trials through deployment to large-scale production, many enterprises are realizing the critical importance of agile, fast data processes, Matt Aslett, director of research, analytics and data, told ISG Software Research. DataOps enables companies to effectively monitor the quality of data used in analytics and management projects and ensure the reliability and health of the data environment.
Healthy data pipelines are essential to ensure that data is ingested, processed and loaded in the necessary sequence to generate business insights and artificial intelligence, the report said. As data sources and requirements become more complex, enterprises want to automate and coordinate the creation, planning and monitoring of data pipelines as part of a DataOps approach to data management.
Such data orchestration automates and accelerates the flow of data to support operational and analytics initiatives and drive business value. By 2027, ISG says more than half of enterprises will adopt data orchestration technologies to automate and coordinate data workflows and increase efficiency and agility in data and analytics projects.
To fully deliver on the promise of DataOps, businesses must adopt new approaches to people, processes and information, the report says. Processes and methodologies that support rapid innovation and experimentation, automation, collaboration, measurement and monitoring, and high data quality will enhance the value generated by analytics and data initiatives.
For its 2024 DataOps Buyer’s Guides, ISG evaluated software providers in five platform categories “DataOps, Data Visibility, Data Orchestration, Data Pipelines and Data Products” and created a separate Buyer’s Guide for each. A total of 49 providers were evaluated: Acceldata, Actian, Airbyte, Alation, Alteryx (NYSE: ), Amazon (NASDAQ: ) Web Services, Astronomer, Ataccama, Atlan, Bigeye, BMC, Census, Cloudera (NYSE: ), Collibra, Dagster Labs , Databricks, DataKitchen, DataOps.live, dbt Labs, Denodo, DQLabs, Google (NASDAQ:), Great Expectations, Hitachi (OTC:), IBM (NYSE:), Informatica, Infoworks, K2view, Keboola, Mage, Matillion, Microsoft (NASDAQ:), Monte Carlo, Nexla, One Data, Precisely, Prefect, Qlik, RightData, Rivery, Saagie, SAP, Soda, Starburst Data, Stonebranch, The Modern Data Company, Y42, Validio and Zoho.

Enterprises need to enable data engagement across the business and IT to improve the agility of data scientists and analysts in their day-to-day work, said Mark Smith, partner, ISG Software Research. Orchestrating and managing data pipelines to guide AI development requires efficient data processing and management of analytical and operational processes.
