Jannik Sinner retained his title Australian Open with an emphasis Win 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-3 Over Alexander Zverev, opening a new terrain for Italian tennis and leaving his German rival nervous after the third defeat in the Grand Slam final.
The world-class number one Sinner became the first Italian player to win three Grand Slam crown on Sunday, moving in front of Nicole Pietrangelia to win consecutive men’s titles on Roland Garros in 1959-60.
“We worked a lot to be in this position again,” Sinner said at the trophy presentation, receiving recognition to his team.
“It is amazing to share this feeling with all of you, it is amazing to achieve things and share it with you.
“Continue to believe in yourself,” Sinner said to the defeated German. “We know how strong you are as a player and a person and you can lift the trophy.”
World Number One rejects concern about doping
A year after he mowed Daniil Medvedev in five sets for his first major trophy, Sinner destroyed his second Melbourne Park finale of all dramas by applying choking pressure and clinical execution.
