Former England cricketer James Vince has hit out at the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) over their policy of not allowing players into overseas leagues. He said it doesn’t seem right why players are allowed in IPL and not PSL.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have come down hard on their players over the past few months. This is because gamers prioritize gameplay for the English national cricket team, as well as domestic cricket in England in overseas leagues.
English players will be allowed to play in IPL only
The ECB has changed its NOC policy, whereby players will not be granted NOCs for leagues that will clash with the English summer unless the player has a white-ball-only contract with his country. The district will clash with the Pakistan Super League, hence none of the players will be part of it.
English players will also not be allowed to play the tournament which will clash with the Vitality Blast and Hundred schedules. This means it would be difficult for players to play in Major League Cricket, Canada’s Global T20 League and the Lankan Premier League, as well as the Caribbean Premier League.
However, English players will only be allowed to play in the IPL. The ECB has made a policy for all other leagues except the IPL. This speaks to their relationship with the BCCI as even the main players of the English cricket team will be playing in the IPL.

James Vince spoke about the same and lashed out at the ECB, saying that the PCB is shorter than the IPL and hence the players would miss less domestic cricket. He said the ECB has a special relationship with the BCCI, and has seen 25 and 30 cancel their contracts with Red Bull. Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, he said:
“The PSL is a shorter competition, so if you’re going to play in it, you’re probably missing less domestic cricket than if you’re going to the IPL. So it was a big competition that just didn’t feel right you know, why the IPL and not the PSL?
“I guess it has to do with the relationship between the ECB and the PCB and the BCCI why they came up with that rule. I guess another 25, 30 English players picked up on decent contracts, would there have been more people who have given up their contract with Red Bull to accept that offer.”

James Vince went on to talk about the challenges of being allowed to play in the PSL due to the NOC issue. He said that the team management in Karachi was hesitant to select the players in the draft. He added:
“I don’t think it helps the English players who have been signed for all formats in the draft because I know we’ve had a bit of a dialogue with our owners and the team management in Karachi. They were concerned about picking someone in the draft and then it was rejected by the NEC, so that’s not it also helps England’s domestic players in the draft,” said James Vince.
