Rome (Reuters) – The Italian Navy took 49 migrants on Sunday, which she picked up in international waters in detention facilities in Albania, the Ministry of the Interior said, continuing to combat arrivals with sea stunned in legal controversy.
The Giorgie Meloni government has built two reception centers in Albania, the first such agreement that includes a European Union state to divert migrants to a country that is not EU member state but are empty since November after they encountered opposition to the court.
The ministry announced that the patrol ship was going to Albania with 49 migrants on it, while another 53 migrants who were also picked up, and who showed their passports to avoid the current move, were in Italy, where they were waiting for their status check.
The transfer represents a new Government attempt to conduct their policy after the judges in Rome questioned her validity and ordered that the first two groups of migrants detained in Albania were moved to Italy.
The controversy around the plan, which sees melons as a cornerstone of the intention of its government to restrict immigration, revolves around last year’s judgment of the European Court of Justice, which was not associated with Italy.
The court said that no nation of origin can be considered safe if even part of it is only dangerous, undercovering the idea of Rome on deportation in Albania of migrants from the selected list of “safe” countries with the aim of returning to their homeland.
The European Court of Justice should consider the Italian plan in the coming weeks and clarify whether it is in accordance with EU law.
