Toto Wolff said he told Lewis Hamilton that his first paintings were as the Ferrari driver “iconic” because the Mercedes boss revealed that it was the first time to see his former driver in the colors of one of their greatest rivals.
Hamilton made global titles last week when they published the first pictures of the Britons in Ferrari’s seat of Maranello, and the sevenfold world champion also held his first photocal in the famous red overalls of the Italian team before driving one of their cars for the first time.
And after 12 years in Mercedes, where Hamilton wrote a record book of Formula One with silver arrows, Wolff admitted that he saw the first pictures of Ferrari influenced him.
“It’s a little like you friendly, separating yourself and everything is good, and then you see your partner with a new friend for the first time!” said the director of the Mercedes team Sky Sports News at the Autosport Awards.
“But I’m really happy about him and I told him these pictures were the iconic he made – it was so well courished and not surprised by Lewis.”
