US journalist Ryan Grim says it could be risky for Israel to reject the Gaza ceasefire, even just to appease Trump.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has put his political future on hold until President-elect Donald Trump takes office, according to Ryan Grim, co-founder of Drop Site News.
Grim tells host Steve Clemons that Netanyahu’s gambit paid off and now he may not be able to reject a cease-fire after Jan. 20 — the inauguration day of Trump, who has vowed to “break loose” in the Middle East if he doesn’t get his way.
“Does he maintain it or is it just something that was announced so Trump can celebrate it and say he’s moving on,” is the bigger question, Grim says.
