ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Watch
India captain Rohit Sharma looked in fantastic form with the bat as he began his preparations for the upcoming Champions Trophy. Rohit, who had a terrible Test series in Australia, played some impressive shots in the net.
He played traditional net shots and hardly looked in trouble. Rohit was soon playing aggressive shots and was not afraid to come out of his crease to play high shots. The 37-year-old used the depth of her folds to perfection and looked relaxed.
It should be noted that Rohit practiced with the white ball and not the red ball, making it clear that he was looking at the ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy. The Indian captain’s form in the net bodes well for the team ahead of the important tournament.

Rohit Sharma is practicing with the Mumbai Ranji team
Earlier, Rohit Sharma also attended a training session with Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy team at the Wankhede Stadium. After a few tosses, he faced Mumbai’s fast bowlers and bowlers for 45 minutes in the nets.
While the BCCI has made it clear to the centrally contracted players to play domestic cricket, it is not clear whether Rohit will play in the Mumbai vs Jammu & Kashmir match starting on January 23 in Mumbai.
Pressure is mounting on the Indian captain to play the Ranji Trophy to rediscover his playing form after a poor series in Australia. His last Ranji Trophy match came in 2015 against Uttar Pradesh when he was not even a regular part of the Indian Test team.
Rohit scored just 31 runs in three Tests in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at an average of 6.20. Due to his bad form, he was forced to withdraw from the final exam in Sydney.
Rohit Sharma’s recent ODI form
Despite his poor form, Rohit Sharma will lead India in the upcoming ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy 2025. His red ball was a cause for concern but he was in excellent form when he last played an ODI.
Rohit last played an ODI against Sri Lanka in August 2024. The 37-year-old became the top scorer in the series with 157 runs in three ODIs at an average of 52.33 and a staggering strike rate of 141.44.
Recently, Rohit changed his batting style in ODI cricket. He has been more aggressive and looks to take full advantage of the powerplay limitations rather than trying to play long innings.
