A review meeting by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) following the poor results of the Indian national cricket team has reportedly led to the board taking tough steps. The governing body, along with selectors, head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma were present in the meeting.
This comes after the Indian national cricket team performed extremely poorly after the T20 World Cup 2024. They faced an ODI series defeat against Sri Lanka after 27 years. After that, they suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to New Zealand and then lost to Australia 3-1, losing their place in the ICC World Cup finals.

But to everyone’s surprise, the team management blamed the Indian Premier League (IPL). According to reports, a board member of the Gautam Gambhir-led team is learned to have said that the big IPL contracts are one of the main reasons why the team is struggling. One of the members stated that the players do not give their best for the national team in the longest format because of the big IPL jobs.
