Former ‘View’ co-host says Joy Behar calling Carrie Underwood ‘un-American’ is ‘selfish publicity stunt’
Former “The View” host Elisabeth Hasselbeck fired back at current co-host Joy Behar for calling country music star Carrie Underwood “un-American” for agreeing to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
JOY BEHAR ASKS HOW CARRIE UNDERWOOD COULD LOVE COUNTRY IF RUNNING FOR TRUMP
Behar criticized the singer’s move to sing at the event during Tuesday’s show, questioning how Underwood could say she loves the country and “endorse and normalize someone who was a convicted felon” who wants to “destroy the country.”
“I don’t understand how you say you love your country at the same time you’re normalizing this convicted felon,” Behar said.
Hasselbeck responded to Behar’s comments and “View” for “refusing to put people at their discussion table with little common sense most days.”
“When these comments spread, even Whoopi Goldberg couldn’t agree with the unusual remark by Joy Behar” Hasselbeck told “Hannity” on Tuesday night.
Citing Underwood’s history of being pro-American, Hasselbeck criticized Behar’s claims about the singer, calling her statements “ridiculous.”
“She wants us to believe that [about] Carrie Underwood, who won ‘American Idol’ with the American vote, who had an album and tour called All-American Girl, who actually spent more time on USO tours, serving and helping and donating money to our nation’s best, our military, their families and our veterans – is preparing to perform ‘America the Beautiful’ at the historic inauguration event of the President of the United States of America.”
The former co-host said Behar’s motivation for making the comments was nothing more than “selfish publicity” by attaching her name to Underwood.
“She wants to attach her name to Carrie Underwood’s name to stay relevant because they know the ship is sinking,” Hasselbeck said, explaining how Behar’s “dysmorphic lie” needs to be snuffed out of thin air.
“That’s what we’re doing tonight. We’re actually bearers of truth, because what we know to be true is that it’s actually more un-American to call someone un-American for exercising their American rights,” Hasselbeck said.
Hasselbeck asked further Behar’s statements asking, “Is every person who shows up on Inauguration Day, from security to prison staff, un-American? Is that what Joy is saying?”
Hasselbeck also dismissed previous claims that Behar supports strong, working women.
“That’s a lie. She’s supposed to support Carrie Underwood. And actually, Carrie is a great, great woman,” Hasselbeck said, adding that Behar could learn a lot from the singer “by surrounding herself with people who don’t always stick up for her.” same beliefs.”

– Joy, if she was as strong as she was, she could learn – said the former co-host.
On whether she will attend the historic inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, Hasselbeck encouraged those who had the opportunity to do so.
“It’s a historic event. I think if you have the opportunity as an American to be a part of or close to something that big, you should,” she said.
