Former NYPD officer Jeffrey Maddrey’s home searched over allegations he solicited sex for overtime pay

On Thursday, the police searched the ex’s home the highest-ranking officer of the New York Police Department who resigned late last month after being accused of demanding sex from a subordinate in exchange for opportunities to earn extra pay.

Authorities searched several locations, including the home of Jeffrey Maddrey, the NYPD’s highest-ranking uniformed officer, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.

“On my order, the Administration of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Croatia New York City Police Department is working with law enforcement to investigate allegations against former department chief Jeffrey Maddrey,” the statement said.

Maddrey’s prosecutor was the NYPD’s top earner in fiscal year 2024, according to payroll records, earning more than $400,000. More than half were overtime wages. In her complaint to the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, she alleged that Maddrey engaged in “quid pro quo sexual harassment” forcing her to “perform unwanted sexual favors in exchange for overtime.”

Through his lawyer, Maddrey described it as a “consensual, adult relationship” and denied allegations of sexual misconduct.

Tisch referred questions to the U.S. attorney’s office, which declined to comment.
