FanDuel owner Flutter has lost a lot of NFL fans
Flutter, the US owner of FanDuel, warned that its profits and revenues would be hit after customers enjoyed a hot streak at US sporting events.
The company said in a trading update on Tuesday that the NFL season was the “most user-friendly” since the launch of online sports betting, with the favorite winning rate the highest in almost 20 years.
Flutter said the largest single loss during the quarter was on Dec. 30 when the Detroit Lions’ win over the San Francisco 49ers cost $74 million.
Flutter said that would affect revenues of about $390 million from Nov. 12 to Dec. 31.
